Sleep in the Later Years.
Among the changes that aging brings, our experience of sleep is different. Most of us still require the same seven to nine hours of sleep a night that we did when we were younger.
However, lifestyle changes and behavioural practices mean a good night's rest may prove more elusive. Daytime naps may mean we’re less tired at bedtime. We may associate our beds with television or reading, not sleeping. Stress and bereavement cause early awakening or interrupted sleep.
Sounds like the bark of a dog or a passing siren may trouble us more now than when we were younger!
